Ashwood Artisan is a family run business situated in the heart of the Peak District, in a sixteenth century courtyard at Blackwell near the spa town of Buxton, Derbyshire.
Bryan Callaghan-Gratton is the owner of the company, and since leaving school has always had a passion for making all types of furniture including kitchens, bedroom furniture, tables and chairs and other free standing furniture to enhance your home or office using traditional and modern skills.
We specialise in most hardwoods such as Oak, Maple, Ash and Walnut. Choosing handmade furniture enables you to utilise every inch of available space. The timber is chosen to suit clients tastes, for example if you like knots in your wood then we would leave them in.
Wood looks good in it’s natural form, however it can be stained to fit your requirements. We offer a range of finishes like, oiled, waxed, lacquered, spray or hand painted to match any paint or colour.
For those of you who are environmentally friendly the shavings are used as bedding for the local farm animals, then are put back on the land. The timber off cuts are used on log fires.
We source only the best quality timber available and make every effort to ensure it originates from environmentally managed woodlands where sustainability is a prime concern. It is our purchasing policy to buy certified timber from companies who have a proven record in understanding today’s responsibilities. For every handmade kitchen sold we have a tree planted.
